My daughter and I visit the butterfly pavillion every year, and are lucky enough to have the butterflies land on us most years. On days when we need to relax, we often find ourselves outside by the fields or in a greenhouse. This collection will always remind me of the organic parts of nature, and the playful attitude that she brings everywhere we go.

During the winter months I learned the value of continuing education, and focused on learning new art skills. I tried watercolor painting and to my surprise found it relaxing and whimsical. I found myself in a greenhouse a year later and painted these stunning flowers, reminding me that spring is just around the corner.

When we went to adopt our son, we stayed out of state almost a month. As we waited for him to be born, we went to a beach to try and forget the chaos of the time we were in. I watched these birds chaotically, yet beautifully fly above my daughter playing on the beach. As I look at them, I see what I felt, the beauty in the chaos.

Can you think back to your first flowers, and does it bring back so many memories, or even the smell of the literal roses? Maybe yours were for a day of love, or a day the signifies saying goodbye to a loved one. Let the smell of the roses, or whatever flowers you received, be a gentle and beautiful reminder to never forget.

I have the opportunity to meet with a group of women who are all ages, and I love to learn from them. My sweet friend, who over doubles my age turning 90, had a sweet birthday and these flowers sat on the table. This set will remind me of her sweet smile, and tears of joy that day, as we celebrated her together.

I have a love hate relationship with lighting, as I have been semi-struck twice. As I was hand drawing and painting these branches, they turned more into lightning branches, and they have brought up the stories of my house and car being struck by lightning, They are certainly a beautiful storm.

There is something about the greenhouse, a garden, or anything outside in nature. I am drawn to the rustic, vintage, and imperfect elements throughout. I often even find myself looking at a leaf, or even a weed. Finding the beauty in the brown leaf that is at the end of it's cycle and then looking forward to it re-appearing in spring has always been something to appreciate.

Where I live, the winters are long, and floral season is short. So to give my house a greenhouse feel, I bring my favorite plants into my house and hang them in the windows. These flowerbox botanicals bring life to the long dark winters and help light up the room and lift our spirits.

These past several years, I have experienced some amazing blessings, and also gone through heartache and loss. I have learned that as time goes on, I find that the love typically stays, and the loss seems to heal and fade. Now, I certainly prioritize my time differently, and value each day in a new way. I would say, my respect for time has grown... over time.

Somehow seeing a fern brings me peace. It has always been this way. It may be the softness of them, or how they cover the ground like a blanket. My neighbor gave me her ferns just before she passed away, and every time they come up in the spring, and I walk past them I think of her peaceful and sweet personality.
